Expert perspectives on improving services for patients with periprosthetic femoral fractures: a qualitative study
Background The incidence of post-operative periprosthetic femoral fractures (POPFFs) is increasing. However, specific clinical guidance relating to patient management does not exist, resulting in variations in care and outcomes. This study aimed to elicit and synthesise expert knowledge in POPFF service delivery and explore views on variations in service provision and the factors influencing these. Methods Semi-structured interviews were undertaken with healthcare professionals with expertise in POPFF care from England and Wales to explore current practices, challenges, service variations and perceived future opportunities. Participants were identified through specialist research and clinica
